Does anyone know the average lifespan in miles of a Mercury Mountaineer?

I'm looking at a 2005, but most of those probably aren't dead yet, so an older one will give me a rough idea.

depends on which motor it has, what options. the V8 is a better motor but gets worse gas mileage. 2WD has less problems then the 4X4. anyone of them will do you pretty good as long as you leave it stock and maintain it right.

I have a 1997 Mountaineer and it has 180k mileage, and it is still running, however i had to replace the tranny the transfer case, the fuel pump, in the last 5 years.

As with any vehicle, it is heavily dependent on the previous owner(s), their driving style(s) and maintenance.

Most maintenance items such as CV boot replacement, struts, trans fluid change, radiator flush, belt/hose replacement etc. are not done so the next owner is often left with a laundry list of maintenance items. Try to buy a (1) owner vehicle with maintenance records.

Many vehicles can easily go 250,000 miles if properly maintained.

I've seen 2002s (same body and engine) at 150k miles plus in the shop.. the older ones are at 200k+ currently I'm seeing (1997)

The highest 05 I saw so far I think is about 100k (averages about 30k a year)
